Introduction
Eudemonia Interactive, LLC (“Eudemonia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides Sacred Hours (“App”), a mobile application offering daily devotional readings, seasonal/feast calendars, multi-language content, optional reminders, and private journaling. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to the Sacred Hours mobile apps and in-app services. It does not cover website cookies or web tracking.
If you are under 13 (or under the minimum age where you live), please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
Personal information you provide
- Account details: email and password (or platform sign-in identifier).
- Tradition & language selection: used to tailor content (this may reveal religious preference).
- Reminder settings: notification schedule and time zone.
- Support messages: inquiries you send us.
- Optional notes/journal: private entries you create; these are end-to-end encrypted (we cannot read them).
Information collected automatically
- Device & app data: device model, OS version, app version, language, and time zone.
- Push token: to deliver reminders and other service notifications.
- Diagnostics & crash data: minimal operational data needed to ensure reliability. We do not retain IP addresses in logs.
Payment information
- We do not collect or store payment card numbers. Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple App Store and Google Play; we receive only the transaction metadata necessary to grant access.
Data we do not collect
- Precise GPS location, contacts, calendar, photos/media, microphone/voice recordings, biometric identifiers, advertising IDs for third-party ad tracking, or social graph data.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and personalize the App: show tradition-specific calendars/seasons, languages, and scripture versions.
- Reminders and reliability: schedule notifications and maintain service quality.
- Security and integrity: prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and improve performance.
- Support and notices: respond to your requests and tell you about important changes.
- Legal compliance: meet legal obligations and enforce terms.
Where required (e.g., for processing religious preference), we rely on consent; otherwise we rely on contract (to provide the App) and legitimate interests (security/diagnostics balanced against your rights).
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-app advertising.
We share limited information with:
- Hosting: Kamatera (US-CH Chicago, United States) — cloud infrastructure and storage.
- Platform payments: Apple App Store and Google Play — subscription and purchase processing.
- Push services: Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — deliver device notifications.
- Legal & safety: to comply with law, protect rights, or respond to lawful requests.
- Business transfers: if we undergo a merger or acquisition, we will notify you and continue to protect your data consistent with this policy.
All service providers act under contract, follow our instructions, and must protect your data.
Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, end-to-end encryption for notes/journals, encryption at rest where supported, least-privilege access, and vendor due diligence. No system is perfectly secure; we work to improve safeguards continuously.
Note on end-to-end encrypted notes: because we cannot decrypt your notes, we cannot recover them if you lose access to your keys or account. Deleting the app, keys, or your account may make notes unrecoverable.
Accessing and Updating Your Information
- You can update your email (if supported) and change tradition/language in account settings.
- To request a copy of your data or to delete your account and notes, email serve@sacredhours.app (see “How to exercise your rights”).
Data Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described or as required by law:
- Account/profile data: kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymized within 45 days after confirmed deletion.
- Notes/journals (E2EE): retained until you delete them or delete your account; once deleted, they cannot be recovered.
- Reminder schedules & push tokens: retained while notifications are enabled; deleted when disabled or after uninstall.
- Diagnostics/crash data: retained up to 13 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Encrypted backups: rotated and overwritten within 90 days.
Cross-Border Transfers
Data may be processed in the United States, primarily in Kamatera US-CH (Chicago). If your data is transferred across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses where required) and assess vendor security.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Your Rights (GDPR/UK GDPR & other regions)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data; to object to or restrict processing; and to withdraw consent without affecting prior lawful processing.
How to exercise your rights
- Email serve@sacredhours.app with the subject line “Privacy Request – [Access/Deletion/Export/Other]”.
- We may ask you to verify your identity (e.g., reply from the registered email).
- We aim to respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA/CPRA), with extensions as permitted by law.
- If we cannot fulfill a request, we’ll explain why (e.g., legal obligations or technical limits).
- For deletion, we will remove account data and encrypted notes within the timelines above, subject to lawful exceptions.
CCPA/CPRA (California)
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may request access, correction, or deletion as described above. We do not use sensitive information (tradition selection) for secondary purposes.
Cookies and Tracking
Not applicable. This policy covers the mobile apps. We do not describe website cookies or tracking here.
App Permissions
- Notifications: to deliver reminders and service messages; you can disable notifications in device settings at any time.
- No access to location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos/media, or calendar is requested by Sacred Hours.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post updates in the App and, if changes are material, notify you (e.g., in-app notice or email). Continued use of the App after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
